Customer Review: Great compact oven that does EVERYTHING!
Summary: 5 Stars
First, the size of this baby is great. It is just big enough for whatever you need to do...(well, anything short of making Thanksgiving turkey!) But it's small enough where it does not take up too much space. Also, it looks very sleek with the black and stainless steel look (which matches our appliances).
Second, the functions on this toaster is better than any of the other ones on the market. Trust me, I've tried Delonghi models double this price, Black and Decker, Oster, etc. This oven is very verstile...I can bake cookies, brownies, etc and no one can tell it's from a toaster oven. I've done casseroles and small roasts to perfection. It's really a dream come true for small families who don't want to break out thier regular oven on a hot summer day or don't want to waste all the energy.
We have had this oven for 1 year now, which was one of our wedding registry gifts. It has worked flawlessly since we first used it (knock on wood) and I have no complaints. We haven't had anything break, shatter or catch fire. For the people who have toaster ovens that catch fire or get too hot...sometimes it's the user and not the machine...don't put things in the oven that will touch the heating elements! Also, if you won't touch a hot pan on a stove without gloves, then don't touch a hot oven! It's really common sense.
As with the toasting issues...the key to using this oven is knowing where to put the shelf. If you put the shelf too low, the bottom of the toast will burn. If you put it too high, the top of the toast will burn. (DUH.) But if the spacing is about even, this oven will toast things perfectly. And it only takes 5 seconds to adjust the shelves for perfect toast...really, it's not a big deal.
Also, the the convection function is great when I have a casserole or something that is fairly dense. It really helps the heat distribute evenly. But for less dense items, I find that the convection function will dry out the food.
But all in all, this is the best toaster oven I have ever used and I've probably gone through 4 or 5 in the past decade or so ranging from a $20 Oster to a $200 Delonghi.
